NBA hands Isaiah Thomas a two game suspension for entering stands

Isaiah Thomas was suspended for two games for his part in his incident with two fans [1]during Washington’s road loss to the Philadelphia 76ers Saturday night.

“Thomas has been suspended two games without pay for entering the spectator stands,” Kiki VanDeWeghe, Executive Vice President, Basketball Operations, wrote in the press release announcing the suspension.

“NBA rules state that any player who deliberately enters the spectator stands during a game will be automatically ejected and subject to a fine and/or suspension.”

The two-game suspension will cost Thomas $32K — Thomas was also fined $2K which is automatically assessed on a players’ first ejection of the season.

Isaiah Thomas weighed in on the suspension on Twitter, calling it [2]“bull[expletive].”

The 76ers announced on Sunday that the two fans involved in the incident were banned from games for a year.

Washington is already shorthanded, to say the least, due to injury.

For Monday’s matchup with the New York Knicks, they’ll be without the services of Thomas Bryant (foot), Moe Wagner (ankle), Rui Hachimura (groin), CJ Miles (wrist), Jordan McRae (finger), Davis Bertans (quad), and John Wall (Achilles).
